Nationale Pre-Departure Training

Op zaterdag 25 maart heeft IFMSA-NL de Nationale Pre-Departure Training (PDT) georganiseerd voor onze uitgaande stagestudenten.
Om de stagestudenten zo goed mogelijk voor te bereiden op hun avontuur in het buitenland, volgen zij drie PDT's opgedeeld in twee lokale en een nationale PDT.
Tijdens de Nationale training kwamen stagestudenten van over heel Nederland samen om te leren over Global Health en Intercultural Learning. Zo zijn er colleges gegeven over de Social Determinants of Health op internationaal en nationaal niveau door respectievelijk professor Hogerzeil en professor Mertens. Verder heeft onze trainingsdivisie TraiNL een training over Intercultural Learning verzorgd en kwamen voorgaande stagestudenten vertellen over hun ervaringen waarbij de mogelijkheid werd geboden om vragen te stellen. De dag werd afgesloten met een korte uitleg over invasief klinisch handelen, aangezien onze studenten deze handelingen niet mogen uitvoeren.
De komende twee maanden vinden de twee lokale PDTs plaats waar de studenten een training zullen krijgen over goalsetting en zullen gaan discussiëren over ethische kwesties die voor kunnen komen tijdens hun stage.
We willen graag professor Hogerzeil en professor Mertens, de trainers en alle stagestudenten bedanken voor hun bijdrage aan dit programma. In het bijzonder willen wij ook de Organizing Committee bedanken, die zich maandenlang hebben ingezet om deze PDT mogelijk te maken!
Saturday the 25th of March, IFMSA-NL organized the National Pre-Departure Training for our outgoing exchange students.
To prepare our exchange students as well as possible for their adventure abroad, we organize three Pre-Departure Trainings (PDTs) divided into two local PDTs and one national PDT.
During the National PDT all exchange students from the Netherlands came together to learn about Global Health and Intercultural Learning. There were lectures about the Social Determinants of Health on international and national level, provided by Professor Hogerzeil and Professor Mertens respectively. Furthermore, our subdivision TraiNL facilitated a training about Intercultural Learning and former exchange students presented their experiences, after which there was a possibility to ask questions. We finished the day with some information about clinical invasive procedures, as our exchange students are not allowed to perform these procedures during their exchange.
In the next two months the local PDTs will take place. The students will participate in a training on goalsetting and they will discuss ethical issues that could be encountered abroad.
We would like to thank Professor Hogerzeil and Professor Mertens, the trainers and the exchange students for their contribution to this program. We would especially like to thank the Organizinng Committee, as they have prepared for months to make this PDT a success!
