Teddy Bear Hospital

Teddy Bear Hospital

The Teddy Bear Hospital committee works hard for an entire year in preparation of one week, usually in May, when preschoolers visit the hospital with their teddy bears. It is a massive event, with primary schools from the entire area visiting the hospital. Also papers and press often come and cover the event. The committee trains a lot of students from the medical faculty to act as "teddy bear doctors" and together with these students, the children will help their teddy bear get better in the pretend-hospital, set up by the committee. The goal is to make children less afraid and more familiar with hospitals and doctors. The committee meets weekly to organise a fantastic Teddy Bear Hospital year after year. Speaking Dutch is a requirement for this committee.
